How long have you been in a Lean In Circle?
1 year
For you, what, so far, has been the highlight of your circle?
I have benefited greatly from having the Circle to share and learn from. I love that I have a safe space where I can be myself and share with a trusted group of ladies. Its also allowed me to meet and build friendships with other women who I would have not otherwise met.
Tell us one thing about you that you are most proud of (personally or professionally).
Professionally, I am most proud of being the first person in my family who graduated from a university to earn a higher-ed degree. I was raised by a fierce single mother, who instilled the value of education and integrity in me and my siblings. Personally, I am most proud of being a mother to my two young children. I grow as a person, along with them. I have learned patience, humility, and creative ways to approach problems.
What advice would you have for someone new to a Lean In circle?
Join! You will not regret it! You will meet an amazing group of ladies and make friendships. Not only is it fun, it's also therapeutic. I look forward to meeting with my Circle and in between meetings, I find myself thinking "Oh, I can't wait to share this with my Circle." The Circles are a great place to learn, socialize and share.
Please share one fun fact or life hack you may have.
One life hack that has proved effective for me is to live in the present moment. I have learned to focus on the task at hand and be fully present. Whether I'm working on a special project, in a meeting, or playing with my kids, I strive to be fully present. This has helped me focus better at work, and also with managing my postpartum depression.
